Have No Fear... PAM GRIER is Here!!!

Most of my friends know my painting of Foxy Brown was my best painting.

And some know while making that painting I was mentored by thee Robert E. McGinnis.

Pam Grier is one of my many Celebrity muses like Catherine Bach and Kat Von D. And yet she is probably the only muse I never met. I drew this sketch below for her to grace my new 11X14 sketchbook .

HULK SMASH!

Most people have seen my sketch of the Hulk with Iron Man and Spider-Man. Which was pretty much the epiphany of my return to sketching. Ever since then I've pretty much enjoyed drawing the Hulk, especially that the best part is you can never draw him to big or too small.

2-3 Months ago after enjoying the 2008 movie, The Incredible Hulk. I drew this picture of Hulk rescuing Betty Ross and I made Betty portray Liv Tyler.

I've been wanting to do this one for a while. Now I know comic fans once they see this they're gonna say "you copied off of Leinel Yu," well I used Yu's pose cause it's not everyday you can get a 9 foot monster to rip a man in half. Well ever since I saw Ang Lee's blasphemous 2003 film "HULK" (yea it's called just "HULK" not "The Hulk", but "HULK.") and this summer's blockbuster I always couldn't stand General Thunderbolt Ross, he always pissed me off in both films. That guy was the biggest dick. I mean I repsect the US Armed Forces but this guy was more a Benedict Arnold. He wouldn't leave poor Banner/Hulk alone. This I feel is what the Hulk shoulda just done to the bastard.

I mean I know he was his girlfriend's dad but even she hated him. It also bothered me that the 2003 film Gen. Ross won and the Hulk nearly died. But thanks to the 2008 film the last one never happened. But this is what should've happened to General Ross. At least Venom killed Harry and Cyclops got shattered to pieces so 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

There's Something About Sarah

I turned the VP nominee into a 50s style Pin-up.

I woulda drawn more of the Elephant if i had more room, hence it's exaggerated size compared to her.
(please don't post any negative comment towards the candidate I rather be judged by it's likeness)

I Yam What I Yam!

Everybody who knows me well knows I am a HUGE fan of Popeye the Sailor. I loved his cartoons since I was a toddler.

This sketch here I based on the famous photo of the WWII sailor kissing a nurse in the streets of NY. My favorite Popeye cartoons that weren't done by the Fleischers were the WWII propaganda films which featured Popeye in the Navy battling the Japanese and the Nazis. I wanted to go with the revamped Olive Oyl when Famous Studios tried to make her look more "attractive" I'm not satisfied with this sketch I plan to do this again and make it with a more highly detailed background

Popeye American Hero!!!

This one here I did on September 11, 2008. I was in the city seven years ago on that dreadful day, and what bothers me is the guy responsible for this, is still alive and at large. I wish we had Popeye films today of Popeye taking on the Taliban, cause those cartoons boosted a lot of spirits to Americans at home and to the soldiers serving our country. Especially when Popeye said in one cartoon "V isk for Victory, Ve'll stop em!" I am not fully satisfied with this sketch cause I pretty much wasn't in the right state of mind. I plan to redo this. I tried to make Osama looks a controversial as possible.

Out of the Inkwell... and on the Computer Screen.

I originally made this sketch the day before the Popeye vs. Osama sketch. This was a picture I had a lot of fun with. Two days later I colorized with Photoshop cause my girlfriend loved it so much she wanted a color version.
This sketch is a tribute to Max Fleischer (arguably the greatest animator of all time) and the first Popeye Cartoon. Popeye's film debut was in the 1933 Betty Boop cartoon entitled "Popeye the Sailor." In the cartoon, while at a carnival Popeye, Olive and Bluto are watching Betty dance the hula (in this same outfit) however i based the setting on Betty Boop's cartoon where she was on the Bamboo Isle short. The point of the picture really is if Popeye was in the same cartoon as Betty why the hell is he going for Olive Oyl.

Daisy Dukes it Out!!!

I have always been a huge fan of Catherine Bach aka Daisy Duke from "The Dukes of Hazzard" TV show.

Two and a half years ago I got to meet her, and she still looked beautiful in her 50s.

Now before i started uploading my pin-ups I had a "Sketchbook of Hot Babes" one thing I did was if was going to meet a female celeb I would sketch a picture of them and make them sign my Sketch. What I did was a colorized my sketch in Photoshop and gave them a copy.
Catherine was very overwhelmed with what I showed her and gave her.

and this is what she had to write on my sketch,
Frank,
Thank you for your Beautiful Sketch. I think you are so talented!! Good Luck & Never Give Up!!

Love Catherine Bach,
Daisy Duke.

I would end up meeting Catherine again in November of that year and I made her another..

Since I started a brand new sketch book There was no way i can kick off a new book without a sketch of Catherine and I went for an ultimate sexy sketch.

I based it off a painting by Gil Elvgren but i made the legs visible. And added a clothesline with her Daisy Dukes hanging to dry.

Catherine was one of the sweetest celebs I ever met and her inspiring words helped me stay focus. Believe it or not she is someone I owe a special thanks to.

Here's a Spider-Woman pic I did using the same model for Medusa below.

This one I did last night after the Herb Ritts photo of the five supermodels.

I'm a Kat person....sorta!

Well actually I'm a dog person, but I'm not referrin to pet cats, I'm referring to Kat Von D! Yes the beautiful tattoo artist of LA Ink.

I got to meet her last month and I put up a hell of a fight to meet her. I begged my boss to let me out early that day, so i jumped a train and ferry tot he city and they only cut off 10 people behind me on the line and looks like i was gonna meet her.
About 7:10pm we're liek 2 stores away cops and security tells us that she signing anymore autograpsh or takin anymore pics. So i totally lost it I mean I left work and came all the way to the city for nuthing. So i decided me and the person next to me would hang out in the store and pretend to browse around and maybe snag a quick autograph/and or picture. I figured I had nothing to lose cause Meredith woulve gotten off the train nearby after she finished nightclass. So i waited by the steps waited waited waited while kat sighend for th epeopel they let up. And we kept begging th eguys to lets us up and we were giving them dramatic stories and stuff. I did ask if it was possible if Kat could sign a few extra 8 X10 that they can give to us. It actually worked!!!!

However I was still not fully satisfied with just 2 autographs (I snatched another ) I wanted to meet Kat and if i'm lucky get a picture with her.

So after waiting almost 80 minutes they finally decide to let me and 7 others upstairs to meet Kat. ALLELULIAH!!!!!

One thing was I felt so bad cause every favorite celeb I meet I give sketches to, and i had none but promised her for next time.

Here's a warm up sketch i did.....

And the sketch of her I've been wanting to do but this is more a first draft. I figured what better way to make a pin-up artist into the 1st pin-up and I'm not talking about Marilyn, Bette Davis or Bettie Page. I'm talking Venus.

Did You Myth Me?!

From My very first blog below where it shows my version of the birth of Venus,
not only have always liked pin-ups I am also a huge fan of Greek Mythology.

Months ago when I went to Pete's drawing sessions i was stuck in traffic on the express bus, so i pulled out my book from Italy and sed to myself why wait to draw. I was drawing this beautiful model from this magazine but she started to look sinister so i had a little fun wiht it by turning her into Medusa.

And since i got my new 11X14 sketchbook I saw one model that was perfect for a new Medusa sketch. I wanted to make her look a little attractive despite the snakes and fangs.

I plan on painting it!
